Second Presbyterian Church

Connect & Grow

College

We love our college students! Second Church is only three blocks from the College of Charleston campus, so cars are not necessary to join us on a Sunday morning. Our church family also has a long history of being a church home to many students from MUSC and the Citadel, including providing host families for Cadets. We’re excited about the energy that our students bring, as they often take the lead roles in our community service projects and mentoring our youth. So if you’re in college or working on your graduate degree, please consider making Second Church your Second family while you’re away from home.
Distance from Colleges and Universites:

Charleston School of Law: 2 Blocks
College of Charleston: 3 Blocks

Trident Technical College: 2 & 4 Blocks
Medical University of South Carolina: 7 Blocks
Art Institute of Charleston: 9 Blocks
The Citadel Military College of South Carolina: 5 Minute Drive and is on the Route 20-King Street/Citadel. The bus stop at the edge of Wragg Square on Meeting Street.

Where to Connect:

-The Second Connection

Every Sunday (except the second Sunday of the month, where we have lunch with the entire congregation) after the 11:15am worship service, college students and young adults head out to a local downtown restaurant for brunch. It’s a great way to enjoy delicious (but inexpensive) Charleston cuisine and get to know other young adults in the church.

Where to Grow:

-The Well

Sundays, 10:00am-11:00am, Green Room (room 210)

The Well is our college and young adult oriented Sunday School class that meets at 10:00am on the Second floor of the Education Building. Led by our most exciting and eccentric teachers, we learn everything pertinent from Bible study to apologetics to evangelism and even politics. Wake up a little earlier and come on by.

Where to Connect and Grow:

-The Journey/Presbyterian Students Association

Wednesdays, 5:30pm, Fellowship Hall/Youth Room

The Charleston PSA (also dubbed The Journey) meets in the Education Building every Wednesday evening at 5:30pm for an amazing homemade meal, acoustic worship, and student-led teaching. The group includes students from College of Charleston, Charleston School of Arts, The Citadel, and other local colleges. The Journey PSA is also very involved in service, including a yearly mission trip to Haiti. Deb Guess, the leader of the Charleston division is a staff member of the Charleston-Atlantic Presbytery and reports to the Presbytery Campus Ministry committee.
