Charleston Young Life is setting up shop in Second Church at the end of this summer. After a year of successful partnering with Young Life as the church for hosting their city-wide gatherings, Young Life is now establishing their Charleston headquarters in the education building. If you are interested in helping them create an effective office space, place contact Nancy at office@secondpresbyterianchurch.org to assist.

Rev. Darwin is off to Montreat for their Church Unbound conference. Following DCE Colin’s trip to Montreat for training in Christian educational practices and theories, Church Unbound promises to unveil the most innovative ways of being and doing “church”. He’ll be there July 1-5.

We hope you didn’t miss our Annual Church Beach Barbeque at the Sand Dunes Club on Sullivans Island. Perfect weather (timed perfectly before thunderstorms), amazing food, and warm water were the orders of day—not to mention Howe family’s construction of a sand tower city. Come again next year for Jimmy Howe’s grilling, skimboarding lessons, and intense bocce ball competitions.

Vacation Bible School was a blast this year! Using a new custom curriculum, over twenty children interactively discovered the story of “Jonah and the BIG Fish.” A big thanks to our awesome VBS ministry team: Ashley Renz, Erik Melvin, Jessi Chapman, Jason Gainey, Jim Alexander, Becky Johnson, Joy Kirven, Shelly Howe AND our VBS volunteers: Natalie Howe, Waring Howe Jr, Sue Henderson, Laura McElwaine, Jan Mizell, Ena Lewis, Harry McLean, and Pat Mellen. They really made it happen!
